Delivery Policy
How and when you receive what you buy. Nothing is shipped: everything reaches you online or in person.

This policy explains how, when and where you receive everything you buy from Cape Marine Academy, and it is our shipping policy too. It sits alongside our Terms and Conditions and our Refund Policy, and it never overrides a right you have under South African law. Questions about a delivery? Email us any time at robin@capemarineacademy.com.
1. Nothing is shipped
Everything we sell is online training or a service. We never post you a physical product, so there is no shipping fee, no delivery charge and nothing to collect. Every part of what you buy reaches you in one of three ways: online in your student portal, in person at the training centre for STCW, or in person at our office at The Pavilion, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town, by appointment.
| What you buy | How and when it reaches you |
|---|---|
| A Career Training Course | Online, in your student portal, as soon as Payfast confirms your payment (section 2) |
| Crew Ready Elite | Opens online when your payment is confirmed, with the CV review, the mock interview and the direct line on published turnarounds (section 3) |
| Set Sail and Set Sail Light | In stages, from the day you enrol: online, at the training centre and through our team (section 4) |
2. Career Training Courses
- Your course opens in your student portal as soon as Payfast confirms your payment, usually within minutes. An Instant EFT payment can take a little longer to confirm.
- Log in at capemarineacademy.com/login with the email address you used at checkout, and the course is on your dashboard, ready to start.
- Everything listed on the course page opens with it. Your certificate of completion appears in your portal once you complete the course.
- Your course comes with lifetime access, including every future update to it. As our Terms and Conditions explain, lifetime means for as long as we offer the course.
3. Crew Ready Elite
Crew Ready Elite opens in your student portal as soon as your payment is confirmed, whether you add it to a course or it comes with Set Sail or Set Sail Light. This is when each part reaches you:
| What you get | When |
|---|---|
| Your CV read by a CMA expert | Written feedback within 5 working days, with one rewrite included once you have made the changes. |
| A mock interview with real feedback | Booked within 10 working days. Message us on your direct line to choose a slot. It runs live online, or in person at our V&A Waterfront office, by appointment. |
| A direct line to our experts | Answered within 24 hours on working days. |
| The employer network list | In your portal from the moment Crew Ready Elite opens. |
Working days are Monday to Friday. Your portal shows the date your CV feedback and your mock interview are due.
4. Set Sail and Set Sail Light
Both packages are delivered in stages, over the weeks it takes to get you ship ready. This is when, and how, each part reaches you.
- Your training and Crew Ready Elite open in your student portal as soon as your payment is confirmed, as in sections 2 and 3. One on one guidance from an academy member, and mentoring from our founder, start the day you enrol, online or in person at our V&A Waterfront office, by appointment.
- Your STCW. We book it at a SAMSA accredited training centre the day you enrol: Basic Safety Training and Security Awareness in Set Sail, Security Awareness in Set Sail Light. The centre confirms your dates, trains you in person and invoices you directly at its published price. Your STCW certificates are issued by the centre, never by us.
- Your police clearance goes through our agency. We time the application so your certificate is under 3 months old when you apply to the cruise lines, and once we apply it usually takes a few days. SAPS issues the certificate.
- Your Seaman's Book. We prepare the application with you during your package. SAMSA needs a job offer letter and a seafarer medical before it issues a first book, so we lodge your application with SAMSA, and pay SAMSA's fee, once you have a job offer. SAMSA then issues the book in its own time.
- Your handover. Once you hold your STCW and you're ship ready, we build your CV with you and hand you over to our recruitment network, the agencies the cruise lines use to hire. We never charge for placement. The agencies and the cruise lines run their own interviews and make their own hiring decisions. We do not, and cannot, promise you a job.
Your seafarer medical, passport, US crew visa and flights to your ship are not part of either package. If you only need STCW, we book it the same way at no charge, and you pay the centre directly.
5. If your access has not arrived within 24 hours
First check that you are logged in with the email address you used at checkout. If you are, and what you paid for is still not in your student portal 24 hours after you paid, contact us:
- Email robin@capemarineacademy.com
- WhatsApp +27 72 204 4490
Tell us the email address you used at checkout and the day you paid. We check your payment and open your access. If we cannot deliver what you paid for, you are entitled to a repair or a full refund, as our Refund Policy sets out.
6. Refunds and your rights
Our Refund Policy explains when a refund applies, including your cooling off right, and our Terms and Conditions cover the rest of our agreement with you. Nothing in this policy takes away a right you have under the Consumer Protection Act or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.
